01/Aug/2012

In Brazil, along with the expansion of clonal forestry, the management of more productive and more nutrient-demanding genotypes has led to the appearance of micronutrient deficiency symptoms, mainly of boron (B), and more recently, of copper (Cu) and of zinc (Zn), especially in Cerrado areas. The purpose of this study was to evaluate three extraction solutions to determine Zn availability (Mehlich-1, Mehlich-3 and DTPA pH 7.3) for eucalyptus seedlings grown in a greenhouse, on six Cerrado soil samples, and to […]

In Brazil, along with the intensification of clonal forestry, the management of more productive and more nutrient-demanding genotypes has led to the appearance of micronutrient deficiency symptoms, mainly of Boron, and more recently, of Copper (Cu) and Zinc, especially in Cerrado areas. The purpose of this study was to evaluate three extractant solutions to determine Cu availability (Mehlich-1, Mehlich-3 and DTPA pH 7.3) for eucalyptus seedlings grown under greenhouse conditions in six Cerrado soil samples and to assess the influence of […]

Evaluating available boron and soybean response to boron in an oxisol from central-western Brazil

Based on field observations it is often impossible to detect differences in soil B contents after the application of B fertilizers, even when increased leaf B contents are detected. This has raised doubts as to the efficacy of the B extractor used in routine soil B determinations. An experiment was conducted to study B extraction and availability to soybean in an Oxisol in the state of Mato Grosso. Boron (as boric acid) doses ranging from 0.0 to 10.0 kg ha-1 […]

Phosphorus availability for flooded rice under the residual effect of lime, gypsum, and manure applied to common bean

W. R. Azevedo, V. Faquin, L. A. Fernandes, A. C. Oliveira Júnior

01/Dec/2004

Four experiments were conducted simultaneously in a Alluvial Soil, a Low-Humic Gley, a Humic Gley and an artificially drained bog soil with the objective of evaluating the influence of liming and manure applied in previous bean crop on residual effects of phosphorus fertilization, extractor efficiency and acid phosphatase activity in aired soils before flooding in the prediction of P availability to rice cultivated after flooding. After the bean harvest, replicates of each treatment for each soil were mixed and 3.2 kg […]

Micronutrient solubility and availability in fertilizers

F. Vale, J. C. Alcarde

01/Jun/1999

The Brazilian fertilizer legislation requires that the presence of micronutrients be guaranteed by their total amount. This makes possible to use different products as source of micronutrients for fertilizers, but their agronomic efficiency is still doubtful. The purpose of this work was to characterize the micronutrient solubility and availability of thirty commercial fertilizers through five extractors: water, 2% citric acid, neutral ammonium citrate (1 + 9), 0.005 mol L-1 DTPA and 0.005 mol L-1 EDTA solutions. The results showed low […]
