Professor at the Department of Soil Science from the “Luiz de Queiroz” College of Agriculture / University of São Paulo (ESALQ/USP), in Piracicaba – São Paulo, Brazil. Prof. Cherubin is Agronomist (Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM), Brazil), Bachelor of Administration (Federal University of Santa Catarina, Brazil), Master in Agronomy: Agriculture and Environment (UFSM) and PhD in Soil Science and Plant Nutrition (ESALQ/USP). He spent one year as visiting researcher at the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) – National Laboratory for Agriculture and the Environment (NLAE), Ames – Iowa, USA, where his studies focused in the development and application of multiples approaches and tools to evaluate soil health of tropical regions. Prof. Cherubin did his Post-doctorate at the Environmental Biogeochemical Laboratory from the Center of Nuclear Energy in Agricultura (CENA/USP), Brazil. Currently, he teaches courses and supervises undergraduate (Agronomy, Forestry and Environmental Management) and graduate students (Soil and Plant Nutrition). Prof. Cherubin created and has led the Soil Health & Management Research Group – SOHMA at the ESALQ/USP. He has published 133 peer-reviewed scientific papers, and more than 170 abstracts in congresses and conferences. Moreover, he leads large research projects funded by public and private agencies, and has actively acted in scientific cooperation networks with researchers from prestigious national and international Institutions focusing in topics related to land use and soil management, soil health, soil carbon sequestration, nature-based solutions and ecosystem services.
