Graduated in Agronomy from the Federal University of Bahia (1971), Master in Agronomy (Soil Science) from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (1976) and Ph.D. in Soil Science from the same University (1992), all Brazilian. He is a retired researcher at Embrapa Cassava & Fruits, where worked for about 37 years. Currently (12 years old) he is an associate professor at the Center for Agrarian, Environmental and Biological Sciences at the Federal University of Recôncavo da Bahia. Has experience in Agronomy, with an emphasis on Soil Physics, Soil and Water Management and Conservation and Soil Genesis and Morphology, acting on the following topics: cohesive soils of Coastal Tablelands, genesis of cohesion, soil physics, soil and water management and conservation, soil genesis and morfologhy, legumes and soil quality, and geostatistics. He participates in several CNPq research groups, as a leader and researcher. He is Area Editor of the Revista Brasileira de Ciência do Solo and reviewer of the journals Pesquisa Agropecuária Brasileira, Magistra, Bragantia, Pesquisa Agropecuária Gaúcha, Soil and Water Conservation, Revista Brasileira de Engenharia Agrícola e Ambiental, Semina. Agricultural Sciences, Scientia Agricola, and Revista Brasileira de Fruticultura. During his 50 years (1972-2021) as an Agronomist, part of them as a researcher and part as a university professor, he had the opportunity to develop several research, extension, and regional development projects; publish numerous scientific articles in journals, book chapters, full papers, expanded abstracts, and simple abstracts in conference proceedings, in addition to organizing, editing, and publishing books and other bibliographic productions; and, finally, advising, co-advising, and examining theses, dissertations, and graduation course conclusion works, as well as advising scientific initiation students and volunteer internships.
