He received the Bachelor degree in Agronomy and Master degree in Soil Science from the Federal University of Santa Maria, and Ph.D degree in Soil Science from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul. He was a professor at UFSM in 1993-94. He has been a professor at UDESC since 1997, in which he teaches Soil Science, Soil Physics, and Water in the soil-plant-atmosphere system. He was head of the Department of Soils and Coordinator of the “Post-Graduate in Soil Science” program. His main research interests include: Land use and management in agricultural and forestry systems; Recovery of degraded areas; Application of agricultural and industrial residues in soils.
