Clístenes Willians Araújo do Nascimento

Prof. Clístenes Nascimento is an Agronomist (Federal University of Paraíba, UFPB) that holds a Doctorate in Soils and Plant Nutrition (Federal University of Viçosa, UFV), with Postdoctoral fellowships in the University of Massachusetts (UMASS) and North Carolina State University (NCSU). He is currently a full professor at the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco (UFRPE), a member of the Pernambuco Academy of Sciences (APC), and a member of the CNPq Advisory Committee for Agronomy (2021-2024). He was Director of the Northeast Regional Branch of the Brazilian Society of Soil Science (2013-2015) and head of the Graduate Program in Soil Science at UFRPE  (2006-2010; 2016-2018). His main research interests include heavy metals and rare earth elements in the soil-plant system, phytoremediation of metal-polluted soils, phytomining of Ni-rich soils and substrates, and the use of silicon in agriculture.
