Total and soluble boron contents and their relationships with some soil properties in the state of Ceará, Brazil
01/Dec/1998
Total and soluble boron contents were evailable by means of three extractors, used as plant availability indexes, in order to study their relationships with soil properties in representative mapping units of the state of Ceará, Brazil. Composite soil samples from the surface soil layers (0-20 cm) of Quartz Sands (AQd), Alluvium (Ae), Planosol (PL), Bruno non Calcic (NC), Cambisol (Ce), Red-Yellow Podzol (PV), Red-Yellow Latosol (LV) and Littosol (Re) were used. Total boron was determined after fusion with sodium carbonate […]
Soybean and sorghum grain yield isopleths for liming and molybdenum rates
01/Jun/1998
Increase in soil pH by liming has been considered sufficient to assure Mo availability for crops. In soybean, the high response to liming might be related to additional demand of Mo for nitrogenase complex activity, in relation to other non-nitrogen fixing crops. Therefore, this research planned to study lime-Mo interactions for soybeans and sorghum crops, in a Red-Yellow Podzolic soil from the Mococa Experimental Station, Instituto Agronômico, State of São Paulo, Brazil, during the period 1985 to 1989. The treatments […]
Early growth and Zn uptake of corn as affected by methods and sources of Zn application
01/Mar/1998
Corn grain yield is very responsive do Zn in Brazilian soils. A greenhouse experiment was conducted in the Crop Science Department of the Botucatu College of Agricultural Sciences to compare sources of Zn and their application to corn. Three plants were grown up to 45 days in 10 L pots filled with a Dark Red Latosol (Acrortox, 22% clay). The soil was limed to 70% of base saturation. Zinc was applied to corn seeds (90 g ha-1), in the seed […]
