Analysis of Potential for Linear Erosion in the Cerrado Biome Using Morphopedology
12/Jun/2017
ABSTRACT The Cerrado is a vegetation complex with a wide variety of phytophysiognomies, and sustainable management is essential for maintaining biodiversity. Morphopedology is a tool that can assist in developing plans for control of soil and land use, especially in evaluating the potential of soil erosion processes. This technique allows landscape units considered “homogeneous” to be distinguished, as a result of interaction between physiographic conditions. The aim of this study was to evaluate potential for erosion in São Miguel do […]
Magnetic Susceptibility of Soil to Differentiate Soil Environments in Southern Brazil
11/Jan/2017
ABSTRACT The interest in new techniques to support digital soil mapping (DSM) is increasing. Numerous studies pointed out that the measure of magnetic susceptibility (MS) can be extremely useful in the identification of properties related with factors and processes of soil formation, applied to soil mapping. This study addressed the effectiveness of magnetic soil susceptibility to identify and facilitate the distinction of different pedogenic environments of a representative hillslope in the highland Planalto Médio in the state of Rio Grande […]
Evolution of the landscape in the region of quadrilátero ferrífero (Minas Gerais, Brazil) based on the measurement of erosion rates (10be) and pedogenesis
01/Oct/2009
A geomorphological overview of the Quadrilátero Ferrífero reveals a conspicuous region where roots of metassedimentary Proterozoic strucutures, displaying young relief features, are in evidence over a sea of hills from the Archean basement. This paper deals with the landscape evolution in the “Quadrilátero Ferrífero” region, based on the integrated analysis of quantitative data of the erosion rates (10 Be) and of the soil types developed from the main rocks of the region. The 10Be concentration extracted from quartz of veins, […]
Study of the relationship pedo-geomorphological in the soil distribution with argillic horizons in the landscape of Lavras (MG), Brazil
01/Feb/2008
The understanding of the relationships between geology, geomorphology and pedology underlies activities of soil classification and the evaluation of the pedological distribution of an area. This study was motivated by the lack of reports of this nature for the region of Lavras (MG), where several soil classes occur, related to a great petrological variety in the parent material and different geomorphological domains. The objective was to study the relationships between parent materials (pedogeological relationship), relief classes (pedogeomorphological relationship) and soils […]
Soil-landscape relationships in a sandstone-basalt lithosequence in Pereira Barreto, São Paulo
01/Jun/2007
The focus of our study were to study soil-landscape relationships in a sandstone-basalt transition lithosequence and to compare the limits of geomorphic surfaces mapped in the field with those mapped by geostatistical techniques. An area of 530 ha was mapped using GPS equipment in order to generate a model of digital elevation, which allowed for the establishment of a transection of 2.100 m from the hill top downwards. Along the transection, the altitude was measured at 50 m regular intervals […]
