Dynamics of surface liming in a typic haplorthox
01/Apr/2005
Alterations in soil chemical properties after liming depend on the frequency of soil sampling and rainfall. This study evaluated such alterations in a Typic Haplorthox (Rhodic Ferralsol) with a sandy-loam superficial layer. The experiment had a completely randomized block design, with four dolomitic lime rates (0, 2.4, 4.8, and 7.2 t ha-1) and three replicates. The experiment was carried out in Alto Parana in northwestern Parana state (southern Brazil). Lime was broadcast on the soil surface over Brachiaria decumbens grass residues in-between […]
Changes of chemical soil characteristics due to doses and particle sizes of limestone in no-tillage and conventional systems
01/Jun/2003
The interest of surface liming of soils on no-tillage system is increasing. The objective of this work was to evaluate the effects of different lime particle sizes and doses applied during the implantation phase of no-tillage and in conventional tillage systems on soil pH and H + Al, Ca2+, and Mg2+ contents. The experiment was carried out in 1998/99, on the experimental farm of São Paulo State University in Botucatu, São Paulo, Brazil, on a Red Distroferric Latossol (Oxisol). A split plot […]
Soil fertility changes on no-tillage crop rotation systems
01/Jun/2000
The no-tillage system with grain crops occupies today 2.5 millions hectares in the state of Paraná. Besides the traditional rotation system with wheat and soybean, in many areas green manure cover crops are also sown in the Winter and corn in the Summer. The objective of this study was to evaluate changes in some of the soil chemical properties after eight years under the crop rotation systems: wheat-soybean-black oat-soybean (WOS), wheat-soybean-lupine-corn-black oat-soybean (LCO), lupine-corn-wheat-soybean (LC) and compare them with the […]
