Potencial Acidity Estimated by the SMP Buffer Solution Method in Soils of Paraiba, Brazil
01/May/2015
Due to its analytical practicality, the SMP buffer solution method has been widely used in Brazilian soil laboratories in estimation of soil potential acidity (H+Al) instead of the extracted by 0.5 mol L-1 calcium acetate solution. However, regionalized studies are indispensable for reliably estimating values of potential acidity. The aim of this study was to fit a regression equation with good predictive capacity of the H+Al values based on measurement of the pH(SMP) for soils of the State of Paraiba, […]
Potential acidity estimated by pH SMP method in soils of the Jequitinhonha Valley, Minas Gerais state, Brazil
01/Aug/2006
The potential acidity is important because it is used in the determination of base saturation and the estimation of lime requirement. The objective of this study was to establish a regression equation to estimate the potential acidity with the SMP-pH measured in water under agitation of the SMP equilibrium solution with soil samples from the Jequitinhonha Valley, Minas Gerais State, Brazil. The H + Al concentration measured by 0.5 mol L-1 calcium acetate pH 7.0 and SMP pH were determined in 50 soil samples at […]
Estimation of potencial acidity by pHSMP method in soils from northern Minas Gerais, Brazil
01/Jun/2002
Potential acidity is of great importance for the base saturation determination and for the recommendation of liming. The objective of this study was to evaluate the relationship between pH SMP and H + Al contents, in order to establish an equation for the potential acidity estimation of soils from Northern Minas Gerais, Brazil. The H + Al concentration (0.5 mol L-1 calcium acetate pH 7.0) and pH SMP were analysed at EPAMIG/CTNM soil fertility laboratory, in 50 soil samples. The […]
Estimation of potential acidity by pH SMP in soils from Northeastern Brazil
01/Sep/2000
In this study the relationship between the pH SMP and H + Al concentrations was evaluated, in order to establish an equation for estimating the potential acidity of soils from Northeastern Brazil. The H + Al concentration (calcium acetate 0.5 mol L-1, pH 7.0) and pH SMP were analyzed in 81 soil samples. Soil carbon content ranged from 1.8 to 35.6 g kg-1, and clay content varied from 60 to 590 g kg-1. The equation H + Al = 31.521(pH […]
